Hacking Xp passwords.
This “how to” is designed to show you how easy it is to gain entry to a Window's Xp operating system as the administrator.
Log in as a guest user or any user with a limited profile,
after you have logged on as your restricted user, go to...
start -> run -> (type in cmd, this will open ms'dos prompt
now you are faced with dos, don't be afraid this is going to make life quick and easy.
start by typing in,
net user
This will give us a list of all the users on the target computer, now choose the admin's login name e,g,
net user Administrator
This gives us a flood of non restricted information about this user, now type the same command again followed by a * like so,
net user Administrator *
(almost there now, ready for the magic bit?)
Ok so now we will see this,
just type in a new password, re-type the password to confirm it and away we go.
Now log out click on the log in as Administrator button that we saw at the start type the new password that we set for the Administrator. Well i bet your all worried now that your xp system is full of holes, well it is but i am gonna give you some tips on how to plug it up a bit. The first thing you can do is either remove all user accounts that do not have passwords active on them or set passwords on all accounts immediately. The next very basic but equally secure thing we can do is set a bios password, now these are not infallible, however it is enough to restrain access to your pc from the majority of “have a go hackers”
heres how.
When you first boot your pc you will see a boot screen at the bottom with usually two options for bios settings or boot settings, these are generally f2, f8, f11 or f12
we are interested in the bit at the bottom it says f2 for settings, you have to be quick, once you get there. We are looking for security section, you navigate the bios screens with the arrows on your keyboard.
so change/set the password and now the operating system wont boot up without it. As i have said before there are ways of getting around this, we will be visiting this later.
